PV inverter and energy storage manufacturer Sungrow unveiled its iNexGrid all-scenario microgrid solution at All Energy Australia 2026 in Melbourne on 29 October 2026. The solution targets high-demand applications including mining, AI data centres (AIDC), commercial and industrial (C&I) sites and island power supply, bringing solar generation, grid-forming storage, microgrid control, design and carbon management tools into a single architecture.

Five-layer system protection

According to the company, iNexGrid is built on a full-cycle, five-tier protection architecture tailored to different microgrid scenarios and designed to support stable and reliable microgrid operation. Its building blocks include the PowerTitan 3.0 grid-forming energy storage system, the Nexus-M100 microgrid controller, the iSolarDesign design tool and the iCarbon carbon management platform.

Sungrow says steady-state protection uses AI-based wind, solar and load forecasting to cut power deficits by more than 80 percent. Its black start technology, the company says, enables a GW-scale plant to restore full microgrid power supply within one minute. The iSolarDesign tool runs 8,760-hour simulations across more than 10,000 scenarios and is said to improve design efficiency by over 99 percent.

Scenario-specific targets from mining to data centres

Based on figures shared by Sungrow, the solution targets 99.99 percent power reliability in mining. For AI data centres it aims to keep voltage and frequency deviations within ±2 percent, while at C&I sites optimal dispatch is expected to raise overall returns by up to 12 percent. The company also claims a 10 percent improvement in forecasting accuracy and a payback period shortened by one to two years.

Off-grid mining microgrid in Western Australia

Sungrow pointed to one of Australia’s largest microgrid projects, which it deployed in the Northern Goldfields region of Western Australia. Combining 14.7 MW of solar PV with 20.64 MWh of PowerTitan storage, the project is described by the company as a zero-carbon benchmark for off-grid mining operations. Sungrow says operating costs fell by 70 percent compared with diesel and deployment was brought forward by up to 17 days. The announcement does not name the project customer.
